This study was performed to investigate the effects of low temperature and growth regulators on dormancy breaking in the gladiolus cormlets which formed in vitro. Cormlets in vitro were all dormant regardless of size and cultivars but cormlets formed on a ABA-added medium were non-dormant. When the dormant cormlets were storaged at 4¡É, 60-90 days were most effect on dormancy breaking of the cormlets. Dipping treatment in 10 §·¡¤L^(-1) BA solution for 24 hours was more effective than GA©ý and ABA solution. Soaking in 10 §·¡¤L^(-1) BA solution for 24 hours before sowing, the percentage and days of sprouting in cultivars were 25-100 and 15.4-22.4 days, respectively. The difference in dormancy status by cultivars was remarkable. Thus, these cultivars could be classified with three groups depending on dormancy status. As first group showing shallow dormancy status: ¢¥Madame Vahldiek¢¥ and ¢¥True Love¢¥. Second, dormancy status was moderate: ¢¥Nova Lux¢¥, ¢¥Red Beauty¢¥, ¢¥Spic & Span¢¥, ¢¥Topaz¢¥, and ¢¥White Friendship¢¥. Third, dormancy status was deepest: ¢¥Calista¢¥, ¢¥Hunting Song¢¥, and ¢¥White Prosperity¢¥.
